INSTRUCTIONS FOR HISTORY GUIDED COURSEWORK- 4th.YEAR A- 2009-

ASSIGNMENT 1- Deadline: Thursday, October 1st.(Print these instructions and keep them in your folder)

Puctuality is essential. Papers handed in late will get lower grades (1 point off per class) Absences must be justified by a medical certificate. Your paper must be typed and handed in a light cardboard folder with flaps together with any other relevant material including instructions, preliminary handwritten work and photocopies.


CONTENTS:

1- TOPIC (1 point)
2- RESEARCH QUESTION (1 point) If you include alternative questions I will help you choose the best.
3- SPECIFIC BIBLIOGRAPHY

BOOK 1 (you will need at least 4 books containing chapters/sections on your question)

I- Surname, name of author,title (underlined or in italics) publisher, place, date.
Whichever system you choose must be used consistently for all the books on your list.

II-Provenance: I found this source in...(the Lincoln Library? the Palermo Chico Resource Centre? family library?)

If all the info. in I and II is complete and in the right order and if you bring the book to class if requested you will be given 1 point per book. You will not be given any points for school textbooks such as Walsh or internet sites at this stage.

III- The following chapters/sections in this book will be useful: You should make a list of the chapters/sections you have selected, READ and photocopied
including basic info. such as:number and title of the chapter, page numbers of section selected and a brief reference to the aspects of your research that chapter/section contains info. about.In other words you must prove you are familiar with the material listed.

If you attach photocopies of the chapters/sections listed, if on the photocopies you write clearly all the info. in I (surname and name of author, title,publisher, place of publication, date, pages photocopied) AND IF THE INFO. IN THE COPIES IS RELEVANT TO YOUR RESEARCH QUESTION you will get an additional point per book.

Follow the same steps with at least 3 other books bearing in mind that only SPECIFIC BIBLIOGRAPHY will be taken into consideration when grading you and that you must bring the book to class if requested.
